Streaks' Thorley Garners National Press(PHOENIX, July 16, 2008) -- Arizona Silver Streaks center Chanel Thorley (Highland HS) was recognized today by espn.com for her recent play in the Summer Showcase held in Chicago, July 12-15. The 6'3" Thorley, who will be a senior this fall, was noted for her play against Brittany Griner, a 6'8" phenom from Houston who is rated as the No. 1 prep player in the country by severals college scouts and publications. The Silver Streaks "Black" team compiled a 7-3 record for their play in Portland (July 6-9) at the End of the Oregon Trail and the Showcase in Chicago. Next week, the Silver Streaks will head to Memphis to play in the River City Classic, July 22-25. To read the complete story on Thorley on espn.com, click "here" to see the entire column. |

Fastest Guards In The West (PHOENIX, May 5, 2008) -- Three standouts from the Arizona Silver Streaks blazed to personal and school records this past weekend at the Arizona Class 5A Girls State Track Meet held at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee.   All lightning quick point guards for the Streaks, junior Kaela Oakes (Basha HS), and sophomores Shannon Jacobs (Highland HS) and Jenay Locke (Highland HS) combined to win six medals at the championship meet for the state's top runners. |

Streaks Advance to Elite Eight at "Battle of the Best," Boo Williams Invitational Representing some of the top female high school basketball players from the state of Arizona, the Arizona Silver Streaks compiled a 3-1 record and advanced to the Elite Eight of the Boo Williams Invitational in Virginia, April 18-20. The Streaks, who will took two teams to Virginia, participated in the "Battle of the Best" tournament that is hosted by Boo Williams. "Who's Who" among the top NCAA Division I were in attendance for this NCAA sanctioned event, including Tennessee's Pat Summitt, UConn's Geno Auriemma, Rutger's Vivian Stringer and Arizona's new Head Coach Niya Butts. Click below for game scores. |

Streaks Open Club Season with Championship(PHOENIX, April 6, 2008) -- The Arizona Silver Streaks' "Black" team opened the 2008 club season with a championship on Sunday, capturing the Phoenix Phenoms Spring Shootout. Piloted by Head Coach Blanca Garcia, the Streaks were among 11 teams competing for the title in the 17/18U open division. |

Streaks Quartet Earn All-State Honors; Including POY (PHOENIX, March 16, 2008) -- Four members of the Arizona Silver Streaks earned 2008 Arizona High School All-State honors by two of the state's major daily newspapers, including The Arizona Republic and the East Valley Tribune. Headlining the list of honorees is junior forward Morgan Wohltman, who earned Class 5A Player of the Year honors by the East Valley Tribune and First Team All-Arizona by the Arizona Repbulic. Joining Wohltman, who helped Highland High School to the 2008 Class 5A State Championship, are Silver Streak guards Kaela Oakes, Jennifer Schlott and Teanna Boxley. Oakes, a junior at Basha High School, and Schlott, a sophomore at Mountain View High School, both earned honorable mention all-state by each newspaper. Boxley, a junior at Westwood High School, was named honorable mention all-state by the East Valley Tribune. |
