Meister Signs With NAIA Power Briar Cliff University

(SIOUX CITY, IOWA, Nov. 23, 2009) -- The Briar Cliff University Women's Basketball program today announced the signing of 5'8" shooting guard Kaitlin Meister of Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz., to a national letter of intent for the 2010-11 academic year.  

Briar Cliff plays in the top NAIA women's basketball conference in the country, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), which has produced eight of the last nine NAIA Division II National Champions.

Bland & Schlott Verbal to NCAA D-1 Programs

(PHOENIX, Oct. 21, 2009) -- Two players from the Arizona Silver Streaks have made verbal committments to attend NCAA Divsion I schools on basketball scholarships following their high school career.  Center Enjoli Bland, a 6'1" post from Basha High School, committed to attend Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., last month, while point guard Jennifer Schlott of Mountain View High School announced this week that she will attend Utah State University in Logan, Utah.  Schlott and Bland are among five players from the Silver Streaks' "Class of 2010" expected to earn college basketball scholarships.  A year ago, the Silver Streaks had seven girls earn college scholarshps (five NCAA D-1), tops among all Arizona clubs.

The leading rebounder and shot blocker the past two seasons at Basha, Bland was listed on espn.com's prospect report for the Class of 2010 as a player to watch.  She helped the Silver Streaks finish 2-1 at the 2009 Boo Williams Invitational in Virginia in April, ranking second in rebounds, first in blocked shots and adding 3.3 points per game. Last winter she averaged 5.2 ppg as the Bears compiled a 17-12 overall record. 

Schlott, a 5-foot-6 senior who will be starting for the fourth year in a row this fall at Mountain View, averaged 9.7 points per game and 3.7 assists per games last season. She has been chosen to the all-East Valley region team each of her first three seasons. Mountain View was 5A-I state runner-up Schlott’s freshman year, reached the quarterfinals her sophomore year and advanced to the semifinals her junior season last year.

Streaks Finish Runner-up at Oasis with 6-1 Record

(PHOENIX, July 25, 2009) -- The Arizona Silver Streaks continued their excellent play in July during the all important NCAA viewing period, finishing runner-up at the NIKE Oasis Invitational in Arizona.  The Streaks won six consecutive games, before falling to "Team Taurasi" in the championship game at Perry High School on Saturday. 

Entering Friday's action, the Streaks were 4-0 with one pool game remaining against the undefeated Wisconsin Lakers White.  Guards Jennifer Schlott and Jenay Locke combined for seven points in a two-minute overtime period to give the Streaks a 46-43 OT win over Wisconsin to clinch the pool.  Ninety minutes later the Silver Streaks faced the California Storm Elite in the bracket semi-finals, when Kaitlin Meister scored 11 of her 16 points in the final five minutes to propel the Streaks to a 52-50 win and a spot in Saturday's championship tilt.  Meister was six-of-nine shooting from the floor.

Rosters Set for Silver Streaks 2010 Club Season

(PHOENIX, Sept. 13, 2009) -- The Arizona Silver Streaks have selected their rosters for the 2010 girls club basketball season, with plans to field a 17-and-under team and a 16-and-under team next spring and summer.  To view the rosters, click here, or click on the "Meet the Teams" tab on the homepage menu bar.

Led by Head Coach Blanca Garcia, the Streaks will travel nationally again in 2010, with plans to play in Norfolk, Virginia, in April, and Portland, Chicago and San Diego in July.   Players still interested in trying out for the Silver Streaks are encouraged to submit their names via the Streaks' web site, by clicking the "2010 tryouts" link.

Streaks Capture Consolation Championship in Oregon

(OREGON CITY, Oregon, July 9, 2009) -- For the third time in the past five years, the Arizona Silver Streaks have brought home hardware from the prestigous End of the Oregon Trail Tournament.  After an opening day loss to the San Diego Sol on Monday, July 6th, the Silver Streaks reeled off four consecutive wins to finish 4-1 and capture the consolation championship in the Gold Bracket of the National Division.  Silver Streaks Jennifer Schlott and Lia Kioa were named to the all-tournament team.

The Streaks will play in the NIKE Oasis Invitational in Phoenix (July 22-25) and finish the month with a four-day tournament in San Diego (July 27-30).  To follow the Silver Streaks along the July recruiting trail, sign up for the club's Twitter, AZSilverStreaks to get game scores and schedule upates.
